"Sextant" caputres the ethereal beauty of a woman surrounded by a delicate flurry of sparrows in the light of the moon. Sextants are instruments that are commonly used in marine navitation and aviation. They are valuable tools that determine the angle between the horizion and a celestial body like the moon, sun, or stars. It is used in celestial navigation to calculate latitude and longitude. The subject of this painting is one of my dearest friends, who has often served as a sextant in some of the most difficult times in my life.
